This exceptional console table showcases the traditional Mysore art of rosewood wood inlay, its rich dark rosewood top set with a detailed royal procession scene rendered entirely in fine wooden inlay work. Hand-carved and finished to a deep polished sheen, the scalloped tabletop depicts a ceremonial elephant carrying an ornate howdah, flanked by mounted riders, attendants bearing spears and a parasol, and a border of stylized birds and scrolling floral vines, all picked out in contrasting inlaid wood tones against the rosewood ground. The table is raised on four dramatically carved elephant-head legs, each trunk descending into tusked feet and densely hand-painted with intricate black, white, and multicolor floral and paisley patterning that wraps the full length of the leg. A single drawer is set into the apron at the front, flanked by small painted elephant medallions, with a scrolling carved skirt beneath the tabletop tying the design together. This richly detailed, one-of-a-kind piece showcases authentic Mysore inlay craftsmanship and serves as a striking entryway console, hallway table, or statement accent in a formal living space.
